If you go in as Sidestep: Avoid shaking her hand if you want to decline. Kinda makes me want to play as a male MC to see where that romance would go, at least once I can handle all that misery again! I especially enjoyed his scenes with Yasmin, both when she went to meet HG (and got arrested) and in the hospital, if Sidestep is captured. He seems to trust her, and he doesn’t really consider Mastermind to be a villain. I do have to say, though… I love my Sidestep’s friendship with Steele. So much for the poly for my Sidestep, because the other two involved parties either deserted her (Mortum) or want to turn her in to the cops, or whatever it is Ortega had planned. Plus, it seems Mortum is out of the picture, too, after she told the truth. Great story, but between the angst overload and the cliffhanger ending (which, really, I didn’t understand, because Sidestep was in Yasmin’s body then suddenly awoke in her own body? or did someone possess her?) I feel drained. He’s injured, pissed off, probably going to now set himself against my MC. “You’re gonna agree to be HG’s lapdog, no matter what, so suck it!” That whole section pissed me off, mainly because it felt like a complete lack of agency. So now she’s actually forced into being a total villain. There wasn’t even a choice to decline! The only choices were “yes, please” and “yeah” so she was forced into it, despite not wanting to do it (and she’s not even a good criminal because she’s always saving people). Sidestep went… and was forced to agree to HG’s offer. She sent Yasmin… they were going to beat the shit out of her, then she ends up in jail. The meeting with HG just goes to shit no matter what for my MC. The characters, including my Sidestep, make me care about them, about what’s going on in their world, and about their futures, if they have one. The best part is the writing and characterization, as usual. Not very good at the villain thing apparently. Sanctuary: You are hiding out in one of the Rangers’ apartments as you heal.
